Unit 3 reflection

Unit 3 was one of the most inspiring and meaningful parts of this module because it allowed me to engage with different teaching strategies in a very practical and interactive way. Instead of simply reading about these strategies, we experienced them through real demonstrations prepared by each group. Our class was divided into seven groups, and each group explored a unique instructional approach such as Lab-Based Learning, Problem-Based Learning, Pair Programming, PRIMM, Live Coding, Project-Based Learning, and Web Tutorials. Watching these demonstrations felt like stepping into seven different classrooms, each filled with creativity, collaboration, and innovative ideas about how ICT can be taught more effectively. What stood out most during these sessions was how each strategy brought its own strengths and possibilities. Some strategies encouraged independent exploration, while others promoted teamwork, structured thinking, or real-time problem-solving. Observing my classmates presen...

Information and Communication Technology in Education(Reflection Journal)

Reflection Journal Unit 1: Information and Communication Technology in Education Reflecting on my learning journey through the first three lecture in unit one, I see how ICT is not only a subject that needs to be taught, it's also an important instrument that can change the teaching-learning process to make it more inclusive, accurate, and future-oriented. 1. Knowledge Acquired  I gained an understanding of Bhutan's digital transformation from Lecture 1 thanks to programs like Digital Drukyul, iSherig-1, and iSherig-2. I used to think of ICT solely as classroom technology, but now I see it as a component of a national vision that shapes society and education. These programs serve as roadmaps that link schools to Bhutan's digital future rather than only being policies. This insight deepened my understanding that as a future ICT teacher I will not just be delivering a lessons but also contribute to a larger national goal of digital citizenship and empowerme...

Reflection on Passion based-learning and Maslow Hierarchy learning of needs in Educational setting

Image
INTRODUCTION  As I open my laptop to write this final blog, I feel a deep sense of nostalgia and passion for the teaching career a passion that has been with me since my pre-primary school days. Back then, I believed learning was simply about reading, memorizing, understanding, and listening to what the teacher taught. However, as I began my journey toward becoming an ICT teacher, I realized that learning is much more than what I had imagined. In the previous week, during a presentation on various learning models such as Buckley’s model-based learning, personalized learning, problem-based learning, passion-based learning, and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs I was particularly struck by the latter two. These theories emphasize the needs and interests of students. Passion-based learning and Maslow’s hierarchy introduced me to new perspectives on how learning takes place among different students. Their diverse strategies not only changed my perception of learning but also inspir...

Empowering Young Minds: Applying Learning Theories in the Classroom

1.      Piaget’s Constructivist Theory: Building Knowledge Through Exploration. Piaget believed that students construct knowledge through exploration. For adolescents in the formal operational stage, abstract thinking is now possible. The theory support discovery learning and allow learners to have autonomy. However, one limitation is that it may not fully accommodate individual learning space or speeds, especially for students who need or require special assistance to acquire the concepts.   During Micro-Teaching, in my lesson on flowcharts, students explored the concept through examining the real life experience and breaking down the problem into steps. Instead of lecturing for the whole period, I divide them into a group and ask them to draw a flowchart. So, during that time students raise a question, developed ideas and share their understanding to each other. This allow students to construct their own knowledge actively.   As a student, I f...

Reflection on Behavioral Theories in Classroom Practice

Studying behavioral theories in Learning   process   has made me further understand how students' behavior is shaped by reinforcement, punishment, and the environment. Among numerous theories, B.F. Skinner's operant conditioning has been particularly significant. The hypothesis that positive reinforcement encourages desired behavior is something I have seen in real classrooms. For example, in my micro-teaching lesson on flowcharts, I noticed students responding well to rewards and praise for participation. Students who received positive reinforcement, such as verbal praise and recognition for correct answers, were more engaged, whereas those who received no feedback showed signs of disinterest. This reinforced my belief that a reward for good behavior can result in a more attentive learning experience. However, I also recognized the limitations of behaviorist approaches. While reinforcement strategies are effective for short-term compliance, they may not necessarily encourag...

Reflection on the panel discussion.

A flurry of ideas raced through my head as I waited on the chair to participate in the panel discussion   on IMPACT OF TECHNOLOGY. I couldn’t help but have a mixture of anticipation and anxiety. It provide and opportunity to examine some of the most important issues of the today, each with its own set of challenges   and   mitigation. We   talked about the downside of the use of Artificial Intelligence , and it helped me realize that Artificial Intelligence if not used properly, will pose threats to our lives. So, I must use AI in the best way possible way.   Yes, I did gain some important lessons and knowledge from panel discussion. It has boost my understanding that technology speed up with the change and with the use of technology in this modern education, student could collaborate with each other and take their responsibility.   As it is a digital world now, it ease our work if we make effective use of the technology. However, if we ha...

My   Journey towards learning ICT.                                       My Journey in Learning ICT. It’s an amazing journey to learn MS Word through ICT. It is an essential and useful software that enable us to produce document in various way and increase our output. I started   to learn the fundamentals of text formatting   like fonts, sizes, styles, text effect and   typography. I soon became familiar with the page break, page number, ribbon, symbols,   menus, and toolbar. Few simple things like saving and opening documents have became automatic. MS Word is   vast   document indeed. In word, document can be converted in various ways which ease our work. To master the word document,   I ...
